



Equinox awarded EPC refinery project by KNPC in Kuwait Equinox Engineering Ltd is pleased to announce that its international subsidiary Equinox Engineering International Ltd (EEIL) has received a engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract, worth approximately $35 MM, from Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) for a major upgrade at its 240,000 bpd Mina Abdullah Refinery.

“We have been working with KNPC for some time” said Sunny Sharma, Vice President of Equinox Engineering. “After several years of work in the region, we have developed a strong relationship with KNPC, as well as many key companies and construction contractors required for a successful project execution in Kuwait.”
The refinery, located 46 km south of Kuwait City directly on the Arabian Gulf currently produces Naphtha, Kerosene, Diesel and Gas Oil. The gas oil and diesel product is produced while containing approximately 1000 ppm volume of water. Under certain conditions, this water can appear as haze, or mist in the gas oil and diesel products.
The project scope includes the set-up of Moisture
Control and De-hazing facilities via utilization of Electrostatic
Coalescer. The scope of the project in the main plant area consists of
the new equipment and its accessories; Underground facility, Civil, Piping,
Mechanical, Structural, Electrical and Instrumentation work within the
Plant Battery Limit (IPBL) and in the Offsite area consist of the feed,
product, utility lines, etc from the Unit Battery Limit to the existing
units / facilities / tank farm, all Civil / Piping / Structural / Mechanical
/ Electrical and instrumentation work outside of the Plant Battery Limit
(OPBL) of Moisture Control and de-hazing facility area.
