Natural Gas Processing

Equinox has extensive experience related to natural gas processing, specifically sour gas. We specialize in processing facility design and construction projects that deal with treatment of acid gas, with varying levels of CO2 and H2S.

Equinox expertise in natural gas includes (but is not limited to):

  • Natural Gas Processing Facilities
  • Compression
    • Centrifugal, reciprocating, rotary screw, vane type
  • Gas turbine, natural gas engine, steam turbine and electric drivers
  • Dehydration
    • Triethylene Glycol (TEG), Diethylene Glycol (DEG), Mole Sieve, silica gel
  • Hydrocarbon Dewpoint Control
    • Mechanical refrigeration, Joule Thompson auto-refrigeration
  • Amine (MEA, DEA, DGA, MDEA) sweetening processes
  • Physical solvents (Selexol, Sulfinol, Propylene Carbonate)
  • Shell-Paques bio-desulphurization process
  • CO2 & H2S removal, as well as COS and mercaptans
  • Sulphur Recovery and H2S Disposal
  • Acid Gas Injection
  • Deep cut processes for recovery of ethane, butane, propane and pentane plus
  • Natural Gas Liquids (NGL) recovery & NGL fractionation
  • Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) recovery
  • Natural gas sales pipelines

Recent Natural Gas Processing Projects

Dawson Gas Plant (60 MMscfd)

The Dawson Gas Plant is designed with a 120 MMscfd capacity to handle inlet process gas containing 0.2% H2S and 0.5% CO2 from the Montney formations.

The process trains contain inlet separation, inlet compression, amine sweetening, refrigeration, liquid fractionation and stabilization, acid gas compression, acid gas blending, vapour recovery, recycle system and final sales compression.

West Doe Gas Plant - (98.5 MMscfd)

The West Doe Gas Plant is designed for 98.5 MMscfd with a 105 MMscfd of equipment installed to handle an inlet process gas containing 2.6% H2S and 3.0% CO2 from the Montney formations. A notable design function is that there are three trains and two can be operated independently of the third.

Pouce South Sour Gas Plant (30 MMscfd)

The Pouce South Gas Plant is designed with a 60 MMscfd capacity to handle inlet process gas containing 1.5% H2S and 2.5% CO2 from the Montney formations. The facility has two 30 MMscfd processing trains The process trains contain inlet separation, inlet compression, amine sweetening, refrigeration, liquid fractionation stabilization, acid gas compression, acid gas blending, vapour recovery, recycle system and final sales compression.

Tooga Sour Gas Plant Expansion

Phase 1 – Full EPCM project to design and install a new 30 MMscfd sour processing train including inlet separation, inlet compression, amine sweetening and hydrocarbon dewpoint control refrigeration.

Phase 2 - Install a new 25 MMscfd sour processing train by twinning existing process including inlet compression, amine sweetening vessels and dew point control.

Bantry Biological Gas Desulphurization Facility

Bantry biodesulphurization gas plant (10 MMscfd) – Complete EPCM project utilizing proprietary Shell-Paques® technology to remove H2S from natural gas and convert to elemental sulphur. Equinox provided EPCM services for first utilization of technology for high pressure, natural gas in North America.

Clarke Lake Sour Gas Plant
